District Student Attendance Data

Oregon Department of Education (ODE)  released state-wide student attendance data on October 22.   ODE data includes information on student attendance at the district, school, grade, and student group level.  The main report looks at the percent of students who were attending school regularly (students who were not chronically absent) in the 2014-15 school year. Chronic absenteeism is defined as missing more than 10% of the school year, so these numbers are those students who attended at least 90% of enrolled school days.

The percent of Neah-Kah-Nie students not chronically absent is 82%.  Only 63% of district kindergartners are not chronically absent.  83% of White and 80% Hispanic students are not chronically absent.  The highest percentage of students not chronically absent is at the 6th grade, 91.5%.

School administrators are currently reviewing student attendance data and will create action plans for areas of concern.

Your child’s success at school is influenced by regular attendance.  If you would like additional information on school attendance, visit the ODE website or talk with a school administrator.
