Nehalem Elementary received a $1.4 million construction grant from the Seismic Rehabilitation Grant Program.  This is a state of Oregon competitive grant that provides funding for the seismic rehabilitation of critical public buildings, primarily public schools and emergency services facilities.

After an engineering analysis, Nehalem Elementary was the first priority, before Garibaldi Grade School.  Hopefully, Garibaldi Grade School will receive this grant next year.  Neah-Kah-Nie High School does not qualify for the Seismic Rehabilitation Grant Program because the school is located in the tsunami zone.  Neah-Kah-Nie Middle School meets seismic standards.

Additional information, including construction timeline, will be provided by the District at a later date.

Steve Baertlein, Neah-Kah-Nie School District’s Facilities Director, is in charge of this project for the District.
