NEAH-KAH-NIE MIDDLE SCHOOL – HOME OF THE RAIDERS
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I would like to welcome you back for the 2019-2020 school year. I hope your summer has gone well and you are excited for the beginning of the new school year. I anticipate an exciting year as we collectively strive to foster a culture of learning.
My name is Lori Dilbeck and I am the new principal at Neah-Kah-Nie Middle School. I have been an educator for the past 25 years. Twenty-one of those years I taught students in both the elementary and middle school setting with many of those years spent right here at NKN MS. For the past four years, I was the principal of an elementary school in southern Oregon. I am super happy to be back in the Neah-Kah-Nie School District for many reasons, but most importantly because of the feeling I get when I walk into the middle school; an overwhelming sense of dedication for student success. I feel extremely fortunate to be working with such an exceptional group of students, families, and staff members.
I am are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. I recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. A strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and I want you to know that we, the entire staff, will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
- Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
- Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
- Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
- Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
- Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
- Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school
I want to personally invite you to attend our Back-to-School Night on Wednesday, September 18 from 5-7 PM. This will be a great time to meet teachers and other families, and learn about the upcoming school year. We’ll begin the evening with a short school-wide meeting in the gym, and from there you’ll have the opportunity to visit with teachers at each grade-level. I hope to see each of you there!
I feel privileged to be a part of this school family and look forward to meeting you.
