Exemption from Immunization (formerly religious exemption)
Effective March 1, 2014, Governor Kitzhaber signed SB132 into law. This law changes the process for parents or guardians who wish to claim a nonmedical (formerly religious) exemption to a vaccine that is required for school or childcare attendance. Under this law, these parents or guardians will be required to receive education about the benefits and risks of vaccines from a healthcare practitioner or through an online module prior to claiming an exemption.
